The Dala Model
Home as a production engine — turning households into sustainable aquaculture enterprises
What We Build Toward
Six pillars driving sustainable transformation
Communities living closest to Lake Victoria continue facing exclusion from the very fisheries and food systems their survival depends on. Commercial actors, industrial extraction systems, and unequal market structures concentrate wealth away from local communities while fish stocks collapse, and food insecurity rises.
Kenya's fish demand already exceeds national supply and the gap is widening while local producers are locked out. Dala Fish Project is confronting this injustice through youth-led climate-smart aquaculture systems that restore local ownership, food production, and economic participation starting from the Dala level.
Food justice and economic justice are not separate goals here — they are the same goal.
